We determine value based on three main factors: the type of precious metal (gold, silver, platinum, etc.), the purity or karat of the metal, and the weight of the item. We test your items to verify purity, weigh them on calibrated scales, and calculate value based on current market prices for that precious metal. All testing and evaluation is done right in front of you, and we explain each step so you understand exactly how we arrived at our offer. For coins and certain specialty items, we may also consider numismatic or collectible value in addition to precious metal content.
We primarily offer immediate cash payment for walk-in transactions—accept our offer and walk out with cash in hand. For larger transactions or if you prefer, we can also arrange payment by check, bank wire, or Zelle. For mail-in transactions, we offer check, wire transfer, Zelle, or in special circumstances, we can even arrange cash delivery. We work with you to provide payment in the method that's most convenient and comfortable for you.
No appointment necessary! Walk-ins are welcome during our regular business hours. For mail-in transactions, we typically send payment within 24 hours of your acceptance of our offer. We don't believe in making you wait for your money. Once we've agreed on a price, we process payment right away.
Any condition is fine! We buy precious metals in all conditions—new, used, broken, damaged, tarnished, tangled, or incomplete. When we're evaluating precious metals, we're primarily interested in the metal content, not the appearance or condition. A broken gold chain has the same gold content as a perfect one, and we'll pay you fairly for it regardless. Bring in everything you have—even items you think might not have value. No minimum required. Whether you have a single ring, one coin, or an entire collection, we're interested in evaluating it. We treat every transaction with the same professionalism and respect, regardless of the value. Some buyers only want to deal with large quantities—we're not one of them. Your single piece of jewelry or small amount of scrap gold is just as important to us as a major collection.
Our mail-in service is designed for customers who can't visit our location or prefer the convenience of selling from home. Here's how it works: First, request a free mail-in kit through our website by providing your name, phone number, and email. We'll send you a prepaid, insured shipping label. Securely package your items and ship them to us using the label we provide. Once we receive your package, we'll evaluate your items and contact you with our offer—we can even do a FaceTime call during the weigh-in process so you can see the evaluation in real-time. If you accept our offer, we'll send payment immediately via your preferred method (check, wire, Zelle, or cash delivery in special cases). If you decline, we'll return your items at no cost to you. It's simple, secure, and transparent.
The karat number indicates the percentage of pure gold in an item. 24k is pure gold (99.9% gold), while lower karats contain gold mixed with other metals for durability. 10k gold is 41.7% gold, 14k is 58.3% gold, and 18k is 75% gold. Higher karat gold is more valuable per gram because it contains more actual gold. We buy all karats and test each item to determine its exact purity, ensuring you receive fair value based on the actual gold content.
Yes, we buy white gold in all karats. White gold is regular gold (yellow gold) mixed with white metals like palladium or nickel and often plated with rhodium for a bright white finish. Despite its white appearance, it contains the same amount of gold as yellow gold of the same karat—14k white gold and 14k yellow gold both contain 58.3% gold. We test white gold the same way we test yellow gold and pay based on its gold content.
Absolutely. Rose gold (also called pink gold or red gold) is made by mixing gold with copper, which gives it that distinctive color. Like white gold, rose gold of a specific karat contains the same amount of pure gold as yellow gold of that karat. We buy all colors of gold and evaluate them based on their actual gold content, not their color.
No, sterling silver is 92.5% pure silver (marked as .925) with 7.5% other metals, usually copper, added for strength. Pure silver (fine silver) is 99.9% silver (.999). Sterling silver is the standard for jewelry and flatware because pure silver is too soft for most practical uses. We buy both sterling silver and fine silver, testing each item to determine its exact silver content and paying accordingly.
Silver-plated items have a thin layer of silver over a base metal (usually brass or copper) and contain very little actual silver. Solid silver items are made entirely of silver alloy (usually sterling silver). Look for markings like "925," "Sterling," or "SS" which indicate solid silver. Markings like "EP," "SP," or "Silver Plate" indicate plating. If you're unsure, bring your items in and we'll test them to determine if they're solid silver or plated. We're happy to evaluate anything you bring, and there's never any obligation to sell.
Yes. Not all precious metal items are marked or stamped, especially older pieces, handmade items, or items where the stamp has worn off. We test all items regardless of markings to determine their actual precious metal content. Our professional testing equipment can accurately identify gold, silver, and platinum even when items are unmarked, ensuring you receive fair value based on what your items actually contain.
